Crochet Wrap Sweater with Shaggy Edging

2023-11-16

Hello my crochet Friends!

Who likes to crochet simple tunics, sweaters, vest or cardigans?
With Fall approaching, I love to crochet interesting sweaters and cardigans to my wardrobe.

In this tutorial, I have prepared for you a super easy and simple tutorial for a wrap sweater, which can be worn all year round and which you can perfectly resize to any size.

img_0942.jpeg

This sweater is crocheted on the body, it hugs the body nicely - thanks to the wrapping and tying on the side - it can be beautifully adapted to the figure and is wonderfully comfortable to wear.
If you are looking for an easy crochet wrap sweater tutorial, with an easy construction and a simple pattern for beginners, then I think this one might work for you.

It's also very easy to size it up or down, so you'll be able to easily crochet a sweater for anyone who wants such a great elegant and timeless piece!

This classic black crocheted sweater is made with cozy yarn Katka and Techno yarn from Ice Yarns, which I fell in love with at first sight and touch and thought it would make the sweater very special.

img_0853.jpeg

The sweater has an easy construction, it has a simple format consisting of a rectangle, 2 equal triangles - 2 front pieces, the sleeves are also long rectangles directly crocheted onto the sweater.

The pattern is made up with double crochet stitches and chains.

In the instructions below, you will find the written pattern for free for the Small Woman size, but you can easily change and size it up or down - lengthen, widen or shorten or narrow it. There is no special shaping in the instructions, so it is absolutely ideal for very beginners.

So let's get started!

CROCHET WRAP SWEATER WITH SHAGGY EDGING
PATTERN NOTES

1) Before you start take a measurement, I would recommend to determine the width of your sweater. If you want to have your sweater wider, make a longer foundation chain at the beginning of back panel. If you want to have your sweater narrower, make a shorter foundation chain at the beginning of back panel.

2) This pattern is for SMALL women size, but you can easily adapt to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the number of chains and rows for the Sweater and as well as making less or more chains in the basic chain.

3) A ch3 at beg of the row/round COUNTS as a stitch.

4) The Sweater is worked in 3 basic pieces:
A) front parts - triangles
B) back part - rectangle
C) sleeves - rectangle

5) The SWEATER measures:

front panel
length: 50 cm / width 30 cm

back panel
length: 50 cm / width 40 cm

sleeve
length: 40 cm / width 14 cm
armhole: 15 cm
shoulders: 12 cm
*Measurements are taken from the garment lying flat, before the yarn has stretched out/dropped.

Crochet the same number of rows as on the back panel = 42 rows

Cut the yarn, fasten off. We have finished the first front panel and we can start with the second part. This one has the same size and dimension, only it is mirror-reversed.

Tie a new yarn at the position of the 25th st from the edge on the opposite side.

We crochet the same number of rows as on the first front panel.

Sew Front and Back panels on the sides:

Crochet the sweater with slip stitches or sew the sides together.
Place the sweater so that the front sides are facing each other (inwards).
Sew the wrong sides together.

Sew the first 22 rows on the sides.

Leave 20 rows unsewn - in this place we will crochet the sleeve.

R2: sl st in dc and sl st in ch sp, ch3 (dc), ch1, 1dc in ch sp, ch2, 1sc in ch sp, ch2, *in next ch sp (1dc, ch1, 1dc), ch2, 1sc in next ch sp, ch2* repeat from * to * till end of row, join row with slip stich in 3rd ch from beg  (16 "V-st")

Crochet the row of single crochets: 1sc in each sl, 2sc in each ch2sp.

I recommend adding the effective shaggy Techno yarn to the crochet.

Fasten off your work and hide all loose tails and you are all done with your sleeve

Let’s make the second sleeve: repeat the instructions and make the sleeve on the opposite side.
