DOUBLE THE STYLE: THE CROCHET REVERSIBLE DIAMOND VEST
DIRECTIONS
So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this REVERSIBLE DIAMOND VEST
This VEST is fun and quick to make.
This easy-to-fit make and memorize pattern.
You can easily change the sizing by making the VEST smaller or bigger just by making less or more rows.

The VEST is crocheted with yarns:
Omega Milk Cotton
1 ball: 100g / 240m
Composition: 100% mikroacrylic
Consumption: 7 balls for Medium/Large women size
you can easily adjust it to a larger or smaller size
Crochet hook: 5.0 mm
Scissors, sewing needle and stitch markers
Difficulty Level: Level 1 – Easy, for beginners
US crochet terms:
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC - single crochet
DC - double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP - repeat
YO – yarn over
Special stitches used: BLO = back loop only
When you crochet a stitch, you normally insert your hook under both the front loop and the back loop of the stitch in the previous row.
When you work in the back loop only, you insert your hook under only the back loop. This creates a ribbed texture in the fabric.
- Identify the top of the stitch you want to crochet into. You'll see the front loop and the back loop.
- Insert your hook from the top down, going under the back loop only. The front loop will remain unworked in front of your hook.
- Yarn over and complete the stitch as you normally would (single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, etc.).
How to crochet Front and back post DC
Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)
FPDC creates a raised ridge on the front of the fabric.
- Yarn over (yo) your hook.
- Insert your hook from the front to the back of the stitch below, and then to the front again. The post of the stitch you're working around should be in front of your hook.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should now have three loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on your hook. You should now have two loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops on your hook.
Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC)
BPDC creates a raised ridge on the back of the fabric.
- Yarn over (yo) your hook.
- Insert your hook from the back to the front of the stitch below, and then to the back again. The post of the stitch you're working around should be behind your hook.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should now have three loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on your hook. You should now have two loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops on your hook.
DOUBLE THE STYLE: THE CROCHET REVERSIBLE DIAMOND VEST
PATTERN NOTES
- The Crochet Vest – size – is crocheted for a women's size M/L. The vest has a classic fit, designed to be worn over a t-shirt or top.
- The vest is crocheted as a simple classic vest with length over hips, suitable for year-round wear, a timeless piece for your wardrobe.
- Before you start take a measurement of height of your body and a body measurement (please see the final measurement of the vest in the pdf file).
- This pattern is for LARGE / MEDIUM Woman size, but you can easily adapt to a smaller size or bigger size just by making the rectangles bigger or smaller.
- Make the rectangle bigger or smaller just by reducing or increasing the number of rows.
- Remember that when making your vest bigger you will need more yarn.
- The vest is crocheted from the bottom up, you can try it on as you go, adjusting the size accordingly.
- A ch1 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as a stitch throughout.
- A ch3 at beg of the row counts as a stitch
- The Vest measurement:
- *Measurements are taken from the garment lying flat, before the yarn has stretched out/dropped.
How to crochet REVERSIBLE DIAMOND VEST
CONSTRUCTION
- This vest is made from two identical rectangular panels (front and back) that are joined together.
- The armholes are created during the joining process.
- Ribbed borders are added to the sides and bottom, and strings are attached to the sides for tying.
- The size is easily customizable by adjusting the width and length of the panels.
Steps to make the vest:
- Create the panels:
- Crochet two identical rectangular panels.
- The width will determine the width of the vest, and the length will determine the length.
- Crochet the ribbed borders: Crochet ribbed borders for the sides and bottom of the vest using single crochet BLO. The width of the border is up to you.
- Join the panels:
- Lay the two panels side by side.
- Join the panels along the shoulders, leaving an opening for the neck.
- Join the panels along the sides, leaving openings for the armholes.
- Add the strings: Crochet or braid strings and attach them to the sides of the vest for tying.
- And if you want to shorten/lengthen the vest, you can simply decrease/increase rows until you are happy with the length!
- This type of construction is also very suitable for beginners.
EDGING AND RIBBING - Notes on the Ribbed Edging
- Once the vest is finished and you are satisfied with the length, the last step is the edging – the so-called ribbed pattern. This is crocheted directly onto the last row; you can continue crocheting with the same yarn or choose a different color.
- A detailed description is in the written pattern. I also like to use this ribbed edging finish on my other designs and on hats, so you've probably already seen it in my previous patterns.
