Thanks a million, my crochet friends! Wishing you joy and color through yarn.

I truly believe in the magic of creativity.

----

A beautiful day to all my dear talented friends! This sweater, with its simple design and airy V-stitch pattern, is perfect for cooler days from autumn to spring. Thanks to its easy construction, which is made of two identical pieces, it will be a joy to crochet for any beginner.

The main part of the sweater is crocheted from the cozy, fluffy, and soft Papatya DREAMY yarn. I chose a vividly colored skein with vibrant shades of pink, blue, and purple. This yarn has a long yardage, so only two skeins are enough for the entire sweater. For the edgings, I chose the popular white Tera yarn.

This pattern is designed for a girl's size n an oversized style with wide sleeves and a waist-length cut, and also for a women's size M with a wider cut and a front closure. Both versions can easily be adjusted to a smaller or larger size.

Construction: 2 Identical Pieces

Sizing

This pattern is designed for two sizes: a girl's (135 cm) and a women's M.

Thanks to its simple design and construction, it's easy to adjust the sweater to any size, from a child to an adult. Just adjust the number of stitches and rows; detailed instructions can be found within the pattern itself.

Design and Construction - Girl's Version
The sweater is crocheted from two identical pieces (front and back), which are worked in rows back and forth.

Once you have crocheted the desired width, you'll seam the sides together and immediately continue by crocheting the sleeves in joined rounds. The sleeves are wide and taper at the end.

You'll seam both pieces together at the front, leaving an opening for the neckline. The neckline has a V-shape in the front and back, with the front V-neck being deeper.

The entire sweater is finished with a flexible ribbed border. The border is crocheted around the bottom of the sweater and the ends of the sleeves. This border will narrow the sweater even more, creating a beautiful, fluffy style.

Design and Construction - Women's Version

The sweater is crocheted from two identical pieces.

Crocheting begins at the sleeve, and you'll gradually increase its circumference. Once you've crocheted the desired sleeve length, you'll continue in rows back and forth, simultaneously crocheting the front and back pieces. Once you are happy with the width of the sweater's body, you're done. You'll repeat this process to crochet a second identical piece.

You'll seam both pieces together at the back, leaving an opening for the neckline and the unseamed front section. The neckline has a V-shape in the front and back, with the front V-neck being deeper. The entire sweater is finished with a flexible ribbed border. The border is crocheted around the entire front section, around the bottom of the sweater, and around the ends of the sleeves. This border will narrow the sweater even more, creating a beautiful, fluffy style.

Tips & Recommendations

Sizing and Customization

Measuring as You Go

Lay your pieces flat and measure them regularly to ensure you're maintaining the correct size. The airy V-stitch, when worked loosely, can stretch.

Sweater Ease

Garment patterns typically include "ease," which is the difference between the finished garment measurements and your body measurements. Decide on your preferred amount of ease (fitted, classic, relaxed, oversized) and adjust the size accordingly to ensure a great fit.

Consistency

Maintaining even tension throughout the project is crucial for a neat and well-defined V-stitch pattern. Try to keep your yarn tension consistent.

Stitch Description

This pattern uses different stitches: single crochet and double crochet.

The V-stitch is worked using 2 double crochet (dc) stitches separated by a chain 1 (ch 1).
These stitches are worked either:
Into the chain space of the previous V-stitch.
Into a single stitch from the previous row, skipping 2 stitches between V-stitches.

Crochet Instructions

Before You Begin

Before you start, I recommend you decide on your desired sweater length and width. This pattern is designed for two sizes: a girl’s and a women’s size M with a wider cut. You can easily adjust the size to be smaller or larger (for both children and adults) by changing the number of V-stitches per row and the number of rows on the sleeves and body. Keep in mind that you will need more yarn for a larger size.

Basic Stitch Rules

  • A chain 1 (ch 1) at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch. Always work the first stitch into the first stitch of the previous row.
  • A chain 3 (ch 3) at the beginning of a row counts as a double crochet stitch.

img_3909.jpeg

Sweater Parts and Construction

The sweater is made of two identical pieces that are later seamed together.

How to Proceed:

Crochet two identically sized pieces. Lay them flat and place them together along the long sides, which form the center of the sweater.

  • Pullover Version: You can seam the sweater at both the front and back. This allows you to create a neckline to your liking.
  • Cardigan Version: You can seam the sweater only at the back and leave the front section unseamed.

Edging

The sweater is edged with a ribbed pattern. You can adjust the width of the edging by changing the number of stitches per row. The edging is worked at the end after both pieces have been joined.

The edging is placed on the sleeves, around the bottom hem, and on the women's version, also around the entire front and neckline.
