THE FUN & PLAYFUL MESH SWEATER CROCHETED FROM PAPATYA BLOOM YARN
IDEAL FOR EVERYONE WHO LOVES CHEERFUL COLORS AND MESH PATTERNS!
Material:
Papatya Bloom:
Skein: 100 g / 335 m
70% acrylic + 30% cotton
Yarn Consumption:
- Child size: 1 skein
- Girl's size: 1.5 skeins
- Women's size: 2 skeins
Size: Girl's (130 cm height)
Hook: 4.0 - 5.0 mm
You will also need: Scissors, needle, stitch markers
Construction: RECTAGLES
- The pattern is prepared for a girl's size (130 cm height).
- This sweater features a classic cut, designed to be worn over a t-shirt or tank top.
- The size is very easy to adjust for smaller or larger sizes, for both children and adults, simply by modifying the number of stitches and rows. You'll find recommendations on how to adjust the sweater in the instructions below.
- The sweater is crocheted as a simple, classic, waist-length garment for year-round wear – a timeless wardrobe piece.
- It's crocheted from the bottom up.
- The pattern uses the following stitches: single crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet. Chain stitches are crocheted between the stitches, together forming a puffy, airy mesh pattern.
- The pattern is created by repeating 10 rows.
- In the pattern, I've chosen a classic, waist-length fit, but if you prefer a more fitted style, you can simply crochet a smaller size. For an oversized look, crochet a larger size! You can also easily adjust the sweater's length by crocheting more rows in the "body" of the sweater.
- I crocheted my sweater with a self-striping yarn, but you can definitely use solid-colored yarns or create a striped sweater with any colors you like.
- The sweater is crocheted in rows, with the sides of the sweater remaining straight, without any increases.
- The sleeves are crocheted so they seamlessly connect to the sweater body. They're worked in rows, from one end of the sleeve to the other, back and forth. The sleeves use the same stitch pattern, which looks beautiful in horizontal rows.
- The number in square brackets [ ] in the pattern indicates the total number of stitches in the row after it's been completed.

Tips and Recommendations:
Sizing and Fit Tips
Sizing: Measure As You Go: Because mesh patterns crocheted loosely can stretch, especially with some cotton or natural fibers (like linen, bamboo, etc.), lay your pieces flat and measure them regularly.
This ensures you're maintaining the intended size as you work.
Plan for Ease: Sweater patterns usually include "ease," which is the difference between the finished garment's measurements and your body's measurements.
Decide what level of ease you prefer (fitted, classic, relaxed, oversized) and adjust your size accordingly.
This ensures your sweater fits well and feels comfortable.
Consistency in Mesh Pattern & Even Tension: Maintaining even tension throughout your entire project is crucial for a neat and good-looking mesh pattern.
Try to keep your yarn tension consistent for the best results.
Adjusting Size and Design, Crocheting Notes
Before you start crocheting,
I recommend determining your desired width and length. This sweater pattern is designed for a girl's size (130 cm height) with a more fitted style. If you want a shorter or longer sweater, you'll adjust the length of the front and back panels accordingly.
Sizing - Girl's. You can easily adjust this size to be larger or smaller by changing the number of stitches in a row, as well as the number of rows. Remember that for larger sizes, you'll need more yarn.
Important Stitch Notes:
- 1 chain (ch) at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch. Always crochet the first stitch into the first stitch of the previous row.
- 3 chains (ch) at the beginning of a row count as a double crochet (dc).
- 4 chains (ch) at the beginning of a row count as a treble crochet (tr).
The sweater has these parts:
- Front panel - bottom section
- Front panel - top section with sleeves
- Back panel - bottom section
- Back panel - top section with sleeves
Therefore, you'll be crocheting simple rectangles.
The sweater is crocheted from the bottom up and seamed at the top (leaving an opening for the neckline). The sides and the bottom of the sleeves are also seamed.
You can either seam the pieces together by crocheting (using slip stitches or single crochets) or sew them together with a needle
Special Techniques
What is a Cluster Stitch?
A cluster stitch is essentially a group of unfinished stitches that are joined together at the top.
Unlike a decrease (like dc2tog, where two stitches converge into one point, reducing the stitch count),
a cluster adds texture and volume.
It's typically crocheted into a single stitch or space.
The cluster in this pattern consists of three unfinished treble crochets (tr), which are crocheted together at the end.
This cluster is worked into a chain space.
The result: You'll create a beautiful, raised, "puff-like" texture formed by three treble crochets that share the same base and the same top.
How to Crochet a 3-Treble Crochet Cluster
(3-Tr Cluster):
This cluster consists of three incomplete treble crochets worked into the same chain space, then joined at the top.
First Incomplete Treble Crochet:
- Yarn over (YO) twice (you'll have 3 loops on your hook).
- Insert hook into the chain space.
- YO and pull up a loop (you'll have 4 loops on your hook).
- YO and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook (3 loops remaining).
- YO and pull through the next 2 loops on your hook (2 loops remaining).
- STOP HERE. Leave these 2 loops on your hook.
Second Incomplete Treble Crochet:
- YO twice.
- Insert hook into the SAME chain space.
- YO and pull up a loop (5 loops on your hook).
- YO and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook (4 loops remaining).
- YO and pull through the next 2 loops on your hook (3 loops remaining).
- STOP HERE. Leave these 3 loops on your hook.
Third Incomplete Treble Crochet:
- YO twice.
- Insert hook into the SAME chain space.
- YO and pull up a loop (6 loops on your hook).
- YO and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook (5 loops remaining).
- YO and pull through the next 2 loops on your hook (4 loops remaining).
- STOP HERE. Leave these 4 loops on your hook.
