Crochet Summer Hat that really fits

Summer is here and these crochet summer hat patterns are just what you need to help you get ready for the warmer and sunny days. I made the hat for all sizes I am happy to show you how to crochet these perfect hats that fit!

SUMMER HAT DIRECTION

Size: from Babies to Adult Women. One pattern which fits! 

Size: this can easily be adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the number of stitches in the first row and as well as making less or more rows for the summer hat.

For the woman size you will need only one ball!

For this pattern you will need 3.00 and 4.00 mm crochet hooks.

Yarn: Spagoyarn Cottonel

Difficulty Level: Level 1 – very easy for ultimate beginners

US crochet term:
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC – simple crochet
DC - double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
SP - space
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP - repeat
YO – yarn over

 

Pattern Notes

1) These patterns below are for babies/toddlers, kids and adult women sizes, they can be easily adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the numbers of stitches and as well as less or more numbers of rows. Remember that when making bigger hat size, you will need more yarn.

Adult Women Size:
Head measurement: 21.5 inch / 56 cm 
Hat crown size: 7 inch / 18 cm
Hat height size: 8.6 inch / 22 cm 

Child Size:
Head measurement: 19 inch / 49 cm 
Hat crown size: 6 inch / 15,5 cm
Hat height size: 7.9 inch / 20 cm 

Toddler (1,5years) Size:
Head measurement: 18 inch / 46 cm 
Hat crown size: 5.3 inch / 13,5 cm
Hat height size: 7.5 inch / 19 cm

2) This Hat is crocheted in rounds from the top down using double crochets.

3) A Ch 3 at beg of the row counts as dc 

4) Finish each round with slip stitch in the 3rd ch from beg

WRITTEN PATTERN - ADULT SIZE
Make a magic circle.
Work in rounds

R1: ch3 (those first ch3 will count as a dc), 11dc in the ring. sl st in the 3rd ch from beg. (12 dc in total)
We will do increasing in the next 7 rounds

R2: ch3 (counts as 1dc), ch1, *1 dc in next st , ch1* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12dc and ch1 between them)

R3: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in the same first st, ch1, skip ch1sp *2 dc in next st , ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 2dc groups and ch1 between them)

R4: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc in next st, ch1, skip ch1sp *1dc in next st, 2 dc in next st , ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 3dc groups and ch1 between them)

R5: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st, ch1, skip ch1sp *1dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st , ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 4dc groups and ch1 between them)

R6: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st, ch1, skip ch1sp *1dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next st , ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 5dc groups and ch1 between them)

R7: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in next 3 st, 2dc in next st, ch1, skip ch1sp *1dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st , ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 6dc groups and ch1 between them)

R8: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in next 4 st, 2dc in next st, ch1, skip ch1sp *1dc in next 5 st, 2 dc in next st , ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 7dc groups and ch1 between them)

The measurement: 7inch / 18cm

R9 - no increase

R9: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in next 6 st, ch1, skip ch1sp *1dc in next 7 st, ch1, sk ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg (12 times 7dc groups and ch1 between them)

R10 - R15: repeat R9

Make sure you have  the number of stitches in each round to make the hat big enough for woman head.

change the yarn: colour B

change the crochet hook: 3.5 mm

R16: ch1 (counts as 1sc), 1sc in next 2st, 2sc in next st, 1sc in next 3st, 1sc in ch1sp *1sc in next 3st, 2sc in next st, 1sc in next 3st, 1sc in ch1sp * repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 1st ch from beg

R17 - R18: ch1 (counts as 1sc), 1sc in each st around (in each sc and ch from previous round)

change the yarn: colour A

The Brim:

R19: ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in the same st, ch1, 2dc in next st, skip 1st *2dc in next st, ch1, 2dc in next st, skip 1 st* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg

R20: sl st in next 2st to move into the middle of "V", ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in the same ch1sp, ch1, 2dc in the same ch1sp *2dc in next ch1so, ch1, 2dc in the same ch1 sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg

R21-R22 = R20: sl st in next 2st to move into the middle of "V", ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in the same ch1sp, ch1, 2dc in the same ch1sp *2dc in next ch1so, ch1, 2dc in the same ch1 sp* repeat from * to * till end of round, sl st in the 3rd ch from beg

Cut the yarn. Fasten off.

Cut the yarn. Fasten off.
