Crocheted Christmas Star – A TableMat with the Magic of Christmas
Christmas Star Doily
Welcome to the pattern for a crocheted doily that will brighten your interior! Crocheted Christmas Star
Get ready to easily create a magical Christmas atmosphere with this project. The doily is designed in a filet pattern that elegantly combines double crochet stitches and chain spaces, thus forming the main motif of a stylized Christmas star (Poinsettia).
The magic lies in the chosen yarn: we used sparkling Katka Lurex, which, thanks to its lurex thread, gives the doily irresistible shine and festive flair. The deep Christmas red is, of course, ideal, but you can easily customize the doily to your home by choosing from many other color shades.
The great news is that only one ball of yarn will suffice for such a stylish home accessory!
The Christmas Star Doily is an impressive piece of interior decoration that will revitalize every corner of your home and become a prominent feature of your holiday décor.
I wish you much joy with your crocheting and I look forward to seeing photos of your Christmas Star Table Mat!

Why You Will Love This Pattern:
This project is not just about crocheting – it's a journey to creating a true work of art. Here are the reasons why you will love this placemat:
Unique Geometric Design
Forget about ordinary round doilies. This pattern expands into an elegant eight-pointed star that attracts attention. The contrast between airy lace arches and solid, filet edges gives the placemat a modern and sophisticated look.
Complexity and Satisfaction
The pattern will guide you through diverse and thoughtful techniques—from basic expansion and working with long chain spaces to detailed lace decreases and V-stitches. This is a project that you will enjoy and that will help you advance your crochet skills to a new level.
Professional Construction
Despite its complexity, the placemat is designed to be perfectly flat and symmetrical. With an emphasis on precise row closures, correct turning chain substitutions, and the eight-repeat structure, you will achieve a clean, professionally finished piece with a diameter of 45 cm, which will be the centerpiece of any interior.
Decorative Edge
The final repetitions of solid stitches and elegant picots give the placemat the necessary weight and definition, ensuring that it maintains its shape and conveys a luxurious feel.

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
The doily is designed as a geometric star with eight points (octagon), combining dense stitch blocks with delicate lace elements.
Shape: It develops from a central circle (R1-R5) into eight repeating points, which are separated by eight connecting chain segments.
Lace Points: The dominant features are large, open spaces that gradually widen, creating the impression of light lace in the central section of the doily.
Final Edge: The peak is formed by a strong, enclosed border (R19, R20 – solid stitch blocks), which contrasts with the lace beneath it.
Picots: The edge is finished with uniformly placed picots (R21), which gives the doily a firm and elegant final shape.
Construction: The doily is constructed as one continuous piece crocheted in circular rounds with eight repeats followed by a filet band.
Size: 45 cm in diameter
