Crochet Sparkly Shaggy Triangle Asymmetrical Scarf for beginners

2024-02-11

Hello My Crochet Friends!

Some time ago I brought home a beautiful glittery Simli Kristal yarn and thought that this time I would crochet a scarf from corner. I had 2 balls - silver light gray and dark gray. I chose a simple pattern with doble crochet stitches and only two rows that repeat.

I crocheted a part of 2 balls and the scarf was a bit smaller, the size for girls, so I added one more ball, I chose the color black and the scarf is now finished and beautifully coordinated.

Scarfs are a favorite make for many crocheters, myself included. When I decided to design a crochet asymmetrical triangle shaggy scarf, I knew I needed the simple and easy stitch. I didn’t want anything too open or lace-like, but I did want some texture on the pattern. That’s when I landed on one of my favorites – the front post double crochet.

The scarf is crocheted from the corner and is slightly asymmetrical. Ideal for beginners who want to practice double crochet stitches.

This elegant scarf is great from autumn to spring and also beautifully piece for a suit for work or a dress for various festive occasions.

It’s a super easy project and it’s my fave – a nice neutral colors that goes perfectly with everything.  The instructions are for a medium-sized scarf that you can easily adjust to make it bigger or smaller.

Are you looking forward to this elegant glitter scarf? It's a luxurious piece for your wardrobe or even a beautiful gift for a friend, so let's get started so you can enjoy this scarf soon!

Level: Easy - for beginners

Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms):
SP - space
SlSt – slip stitch

CH/s – chain/s

DC - double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP - repeat
YO – yarn over
BLO - back loop only
RS - right side

WS - wrong side

Special stitches used:

FRONT POST DOUBLE CROCHET AND BACK POST DOUBLE CROCHET STITCHES
front post double crochet (fpdc) and back post double crochet (bpdc)
Front and back post crochet stitches are used to create wonderful texture in crochet. Instead of making your stitch through the loops at the top of the stitch, you make it around the stitch. Everything else stays the same. The most challenging things about crochet post stitches are knowing where and how to insert the hook. There are front post stitches and back post stitches.
For front post double crochet stitches (fpdc): yarn over, insert your hook from front to back then from back to front around post of stitch indicated, yarn over, pull through stitch, then finish your double crochet as normal, yarn over, pull through 2 lps, yarn over, pull through last 2 lps
For back post double crochet stitches (bpdc): yarn over, you insert your hook from back to front then from front to back around post stitch indicated, yarn over, pull through stitch, then finish your double crochet as normal, yarn over, pull through 2 lps, yarn over, pull through last 2 lps
