Fall is setting in and it’s time to make all the warm HATS. In this my new pattern, I wanted to share with you my favorite PUFF super easy-to-make Beret. If you’re looking for a quick and easy crochet French Beret Hat, you’re in the right place.
You know me, I love wearing hats, especially berets! This french PUFF beret is a good for fall and spring time and as well as it’s an amazing accessory.
I love this wonderful yarn color gradients and quality, it is not too thick, just the right thickness to show off some texture. The texture on this beret is created using PUFF stitches.
This crochet warm BERET is comfortable and easier to make than you would think. The beret is also incredibly easy to size up or down, so you will be able to make a Beret Hat for anyone who wants some (and everyone will!).

CROCHET AMAZING PUFF BERET HAT DIRECTIONS
So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this AMAZING PUFF BERET.
This AMAZING PUFF BERET HAT is very fun and quick to make.
The pattern uses only basic crochet stitches - half double crochet, single crochet and puff stitches and chains.
This easy-to-fit beret is a crocheter's dream, made with the pretty PUFF stitch pattern, worked from top down, worked in rounds.
I am including Women size and you can easily change the sizing by making the Beret smaller or bigger.
For this BERET M woman size you will need 3/4 skein of PRYIA yarn.
This yarn made from 100% acrylic, so it’s soft, affordable, and really easy to care for. Plus, this yarn comes in more than 20 gorgeous colors.
PRYIA yarn: 100g, 245m, 100% acrylic, self stripping yarn
The substitution: Red Heart Unforgettable, 100g/250m
Scissors and tapestry needle
Crochet hook: 5.0 mm
Difficulty Level: Level 1 – Easy, for beginners
US crochet terms:
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC - single crochet
HDS - half double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP - repeat
YO – yarn over
Crochet puff stitch is essentially the same as crochet bobble stitch. However, bobble stitch is worked using stitches that are double crochet or taller.
Pattern Notes
1) This pattern below is for adult women size, this can be easily adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the numbers of PUFF stitches and as well as less or more numbers of rows. Remember that when making bigger hat size, you will need more yarn.
Adult Women M Size:
Head measurement: 21.5 inch / 56 cm
2) This PUFF BERET is crocheted in rounds from the top down using Puff stitches and chains.
3) A Ch 1 at beg of the row doesn‘t count as stitch
4) Work in closed rounds, which means that you will be joining the last stitch of the round with the first one with a slip stitch. When you reach the beg of row, make a slip stitch on top of first stitch – first PUFF stitch - then continue working in stitches from the previous round.
4) ( ) – The number of stitches that should be in a completed round/row are placed in brackets at the end of that round’s/row’s instructions.

WRITTEN PATTERN - ADULT SIZE
Make a magic circle.
Work in rounds
R1: ch2, 6 PUFF stitches in magic circle, ch1 between them, sl st in the 1st PUFF st from beg.
We will do increasing in the next 7 rounds by 6 st around
R2: ch2, *(PUFF st, ch1, PUFF st, ch1)* in each ch1sp repeat 6 times around, sl st in the 1st PUFF st from beg (12 PUFF st around and ch1 between them)
R3: ch2, *(PUFF st, ch1, PUFF st, ch1) in next ch1sp, PUFF st in next ch1sp, ch1*, repeat 6 times around, sl st in the 1st PUFF st from beg (18 PUFF st around and ch1 between them)
R4: ch2, *(PUFF st, ch1, PUFF st, ch1) in next ch1sp, PUFF st in next ch1sp, ch1, PUFF st in next ch1sp, ch1*, repeat 6 times around, sl st in the 1st PUFF st from beg (24 PUFF st around and ch1 between them)

The measurement and sizing:
How to count the Beret Hat circumference for Woman size 56 cm / 22 inch head size:
cm: 56/2 + 56 = 84
inch: 22/2 + 22 = 33
Beret Hat circle diameter measurement:
84 / 3.14 = 26.8 cm
33 / 3.14 = 10.5 inch
My beret has circle diameter: 27 cm / 10.6 inch
PERFECT!!!
R10 – R13: repeat R9 (48 PUFF st around and ch1 between them)
Make sure you have the number of stitches in each round to make the hat big enough for woman head.
The measurement circle diameter: 36 cm / 14.2 inch
BORDER
DECREASE
R14: ch1, *2 hdc in each ch1sp around till end of round, sl st in the ch from beg (96 hdc)
R15: ch1, *1sc in 4st, sc2tog* repeat 16 times around till end of round, sl st in the ch from beg (80 sc)
R16 – R19: ch1, *1sc in each st around till end of round, sl st in the ch from beg (80 sc)
R20: sl st in each st around, finish with an invisible join.
Boarder Measurement: 3 cm / 1.2 inch
Cut the yarn, weave in the ends. Lay your BERET the right side out and smooth down.
Final Measurement Beret Diameter: 29 cm / 11.4 inch
