Crochet Turban Headband White Love Glitter for Beginners

2023-02-01
Hello My Crochet Friends! Today I would like to show you How to crochet SUPER EASY RIBBING Love Glitter Turban Headband.

This crochet pattern creates amazing ribbing TURBAN HEADBAND suitable for keeping your ears warm during the cooler months from fall to spring.

When I chose the pattern for this headband I knew I had to make a headband with simple pattern but add something modern and extras. I decided to use a nice and stretchy ribbing stitch and turban edge on the headband - they together are perfect to create a wonderful pattern! It’s a two row repeat so it’s fairly easy to memorize once you’re a few rows in.

In my pattern and tutorial I will show you how to crochet ribbing half double slip stitch in rows back and forth and how to easily create lovely turban on the front. I really love this ribbing effect and it so easy to create it. This eyes-catching join actually cover the seam on the front.

Keep warm in these modern ribbing stitch crochet ear warmers!

It is the perfect crochet HEADBAND for all crocheters - with very simple construction - great project for VERY beginners.

CROCHET RIBBING TURBAN HEADBAND - PATTERN NOTES

1) The pattern below is for kids size (10-11 years) can be easily adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the numbers of stitches and as well as less or more numbers of rows. Remember that when making bigger hat size, you will need more yarn.

Kids and Teenage Size:

Head measurement: 21 inch / 54 cm

Headband Length: 2.1 (bottom part) + 2.8 (topper part) inch / 5.5 + 7 cm

Headband circumference is 19.5 inch / 50 cm

*Measurements are taken from the garment lying flat, before the yarn has stretched out/dropped.

2) The Headband is crocheted in rows, from the bottom to the top, using amazing ribbing pattern

3) This Headband is worked up as a one piece, starting with a border on the bottom of the Headband and finish on the Urban top.

4) To finish the Headband, you’ll join together the shorter sides and gather the top of the Headband and make a Turban style

5) A Ch 1 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as stitch

SIZE

The pattern is easy to adjust to fit different head sizes from Toddler to Adult sizes

I’ll show you a simple formula to follow for a perfect fit each and every time.

Crochet Hat/Headband Size Recommendation

Wondering what size hat / headband to make? To correctly size a crochet hat / headband, you’ll want to make a Hat / Headband that’s just a bit smaller than your head size. This way, when the hat / headband stretches, it will fit your head perfectly.

To find your perfect size, use a tape measure to measure the widest part of your head. This will give you your head circumference measurement.

Then, subtract about 2-3 inches from this to get the finished hat / headband size measurement. Since this stitch pattern is very stretchy, I find that 2.5 inches of negative ease gives me a nice fit.

 img_7816.jpeg

My example

For example, the kid's head measurement is 21 inch and after I subtract 2.5 inches of negative ease, I know I want a make the circumference of the headband 19.5 inch.

To make the Headband, I crocheted as many rows as it took to reach a finished Headband size of 19.5 inch, which turned out to be rows plus 1 seaming row.

To make a well-fitting Headband, crochet as many rows as you need to reach the appropriate Headband circumference measurement.

HOW TO CROCHET RIBBING TURBAN HEADBAND

KIDS SIZE

WRITTEN PATTERN

I would recommend you to take your measurement at first.
I took the measurements of 10-11 years old girl.

Head measurement: 21 inch / 54 cm

I need Headband with these measurements:

Headband Length: 2.1 (bottom part) + 2.8 (topper part) inch / 5.5 + 7 cm

Headband circumference is 19.5 inch / 50 cm

Note: A fabric measuring tape is useful here, since it’s more flexible than a ruler.

Crochet Hook 5 mm

Work with 2 strands together.

Make a slip knot and chain foundation chain: 8 chains

R1: ch1, 1 hdc sl in the second chain from your hook, 1 hdc sl in each st till end of row. Turn (8 st)

R2: ch1, 1 hdc sl in each st BLO, turn (8 st)

R3 – R54: Repeat rows R2 until you reach your measurement.

Join the side with a slip stitch, fold the rectangle in half, bring the short sides together and join sides with slip stitches. Make 8 slip stitches.

Turn your work on the right side.

Work in joined rounds, finish each round with a slip stitch placed on the top of the first st

img_7811.jpeg

Foundation row: 1 half double crochet slip stitch in each st around (54 stitches), join round with sl st in first st at beg, turn

R1: ch1, 1 hdc sl st in each st around BLO, join round with sl st in first st at begturn (54 st)

Repeat row R1 till you are happy with the length of the Turban Headband.

Optionally: you can make a slip stitch in each st around, join round with slip stitch or with invisible join.

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.

img_7813.jpeg

ALL SIZES FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS:

Gather the Turban top of the Headband to make a nice bow looking shape.

R3 – R5: Repeat rows R2

Cut the yarn, leaving a longer tail for sewing the ends together.

Pull the work between 2 stitches from the 2nd part of R1 of the HEADBAND (the TURBAN part) on front. .
Use the yarn tail and a darning needle and sew the end of the border.

img_7831.jpeg

Or the second easy option is just to pull the yarn tail to gather the turban top, R1 - R10 rows. Work on the place where you joined the rows, wrap it around the front seam to create a nice bow looking shape. You easily hide the join under the wrap.

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.

Lay your CROCHET RIBBING TURBAN HEADBAND out and smooth down.

You are all done with your amazing CROCHET RIBBING TURBAN HEADBAND!
